Product Description: This Waffen SS Portrait is a great display object. It’s a nice period portrait of an soldier with the lowest enlisted rank, SS-Mann. The subject of this fine portrait is young, and wears an M41 pattern SS tunic with one runic collar tab and a blank rank tab, as well as what appear to be white Infantry piped SS shoulder straps. His overseas cap shows the SS eagle and Totenkopf insignia, and what appears to be white soutache. The portrait was almost certainly taken in a studio and shows attractive contemporary hand retouching, a common practice from that era. This sepia toned darkroom print has a backing of pressed paper, all original and period done. The pressed paper has developed a slight curve which can be corrected by framing. This Waffen SS Portrait shows only normal age, with light wear to the corners and edges. Some old stains on the back could be from when this was framed or mounted in an album long ago. It has wonderful eye appeal.
