Description
Product Description: A very nice unissued Combination EK Stick Pin consisting of both classes of the Iron Cross and the Silver Wound Badge. The EK Stick Pin is still sealed in its original cellophane LDO bag. The vast majority of these LDO cellophane bags were destroyed after the war, either by collectors removing the pins from them, or simply being stored in unsuitable environments causing the bag to crumble. This EK Stick Pin example remains intact and still somewhat pliable, although I still would not bend the bag. Remnants of the original LDO ink stamp can still be seen on the reverse of the bag. The stick pin inside remains quite possibly untouched since the day it was inserted in the bag by the factory worker. We have not removed the EK √, and the collection we obtained it from it likely stayed there for many decades. The pin appears to remain in near mint condition. A time capsule German World War 2 Collectible!
Historical Description: In Germany, during and between the World Wars, stick pins were generally made for wear on civilian clothing, by either men or women. Whereas most civil and military awards intended for uniform wear were in the form of medals or pin-on badges, the simple stick pins were mostly for adorning lapels of suits. A huge variety of these stick pins were produced. There were pins that anyone could buy, that were patriotic or showed support for some specific cause. There were also various membership pins for military, paramilitary, civil and political organizations. Military and civil awards were also produced in stick pin versions. These took the form of miniature versions of the awards, and could either show one individual award, or all the awards that one individual had received. In many cases, German stickpins were made with the same standard of quality as the full-size medals and badges.
